The main theme of this edition of Ferrara. Voci di una città is the restoration of the heritage of the great Este collectors, as witnessed by two events: the Foundation's purchase of two Dosso Dossi canvases, and the exhibition of Este paintings from the Gemäldegalerie in Dresden at the Castello. The significance of these events has been highlighted by the visit by the Head of State, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.

But this number also pays tribute to two citizens who have made the name of Ferrara known throughout the world, Michelangelo Antonioni and Giorgio Bassani.
Other essays and contributions add to the interest of an edition with an exceptionally local emphasis: the description of a vanishing craft, a learned glimpse of musical life at the Este court; a prestigious music project remembered. There is also an account of a historical document on the cult of the blessed Pandoni, and of the renovation of the "Delizia Verginese".

The magazine ends with an emotional memoir of Luciano Chiappini, an inspirational man and scholar and a member of our editorial board, whose untimely loss is announced. His memory will live on in these pages.
