Fin dai primi numeri di Ferrara, il Comitato è stato formato dal professor Luciano Chiappini, il maggiore esperto dell'epoca estense e già presidente della Deputazione di Storia Patria; Vittorio Emiliani, giornalista ed ex consigliere d'amministrazione della Rai; l'avvocato Giorgio Franceschini, membro dell'Accademia delle Scienze di Ferrara; l'avvocato Paolo Ravenna, illustre membro di Italia Nostra; Gaetano Tumiati, uno dei più importanti giornalisti ferraresi; il professor Gianni Venturi, direttore dell'Istituto di Studi Rinascimentali; e lo scrittore Roberto Pazzi. Dal terzo anno in poi, è entrata nel comitato editoriale anche la dottoressa Francesca Zanardi Bargellesi, presidentessa di Ferrariae Decus. Dopo la scomparsa del prof. Chiappini, avvenuta nell'estate del 2002, anche Leopoldo Santini, fondatore e primo presidente dell'associazione "Amici della Biblioteca Ariostea", è entrato a far parte del Comitato Editoriale di Ferrara - Voci di una città. Direttore Responsabile e fondatore della Rivista è il dottor Alfredo Santini, già Segretario Generale della Fondazione Carife e attuale presidente della Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara S.p.A. Lungo questi anni, diverse grandi firme di livello nazionale e internazionale hanno scritto articoli inediti per Ferrara Voci di una città. Se "Ferrara", intesa come straordinario complesso di storia, arte, cultura e fermento sociale odierno è sempre rimasto il tema centrale di ogni intervento, molti e diversi sono stati i punti di vista e gli autorevoli contributi offerti. Alla sempre preponderante dimensione artistico-culturale si sono di volta in volta affiancate analisi di carattere economico, studi storici e ricordi di grandi nomi ferraresi, articoli sull'attualità sociale e sul patrimonio territoriale del ferrarese. "Ferrara Voci di una città", insomma, come un tentativo in gran parte riuscito di trasmettere all'esterno la variegata ricchezza e complessità della nostra provincia.

Aron Leoni (1932-2010), son of Leone Leoni, chief rabbi of Ferrara and Venice, and Gemma Ravenna Leoni, inherited his passion for Jewish culture from his parents.
